15 Next.js Templates Compared: Version, Router, Hosting and Backend
By Manob Editorial · · Updated

A good Next.js template states its Next.js version and router, uses styling your team already knows, and makes clear whether it needs a Node.js server or exports static files. We compared 15 on Manob. Zestora runs Next.js 16 with a database and an admin panel, the static Trendexa exports plain HTML, and NexaByte is a full-stack store with its own API.
What we compared
Next.js is still a small shelf on Manob, so we read every Next.js listing and kept 15 for company sites, portfolios, blogs, docs, online stores and apps with an admin panel. Three more, for banking, travel and documentation, are in our React templates roundup with Vite single-page apps.
Ten picks are front ends with no backend listed, kbDoc and Bookjar name server-side rendering, and NexaByte, Zestora and the full-stack Trendexa bring a database and an admin panel.

How to choose a Next.js template
- The version. As of October 2026, the Next.js support policy lists 16.x as Active LTS, 15.x as Maintenance LTS (critical and security fixes only, at the end of its two-year window) and 14.x as unsupported. Zestora names 16, Landpagy and NexaByte name 15, the static Trendexa and Posty name 14, and Parody says 13 or later. The upgrade guides cover each jump.
- The router. The App Router arrived in Next.js 13, uses React Server Components and is what the Next.js docs recommend over the older Pages Router, which is still supported. Landpagy, NexaByte and the static Trendexa name the App Router.
- A one-minute demo check. In the demo, open the browser console and type
next.versionfor the exact version;next.appDirreturnstrueon an App Router build, and "next is not defined" means it isn't Next.js. Our guide to previewing a template before buying has eight more checks. - Hosting. A template with no server features can be a static export: set
output: 'export', runnext buildand upload theoutfolder to any web server. Rendering on each request, Server Actions and live database queries need a Node.js server or a platform that runs Next.js, as the deployment docs explain; our guide to deploying a website compares hosts. - Styling and TypeScript. Bootstrap: Techguru, Vibnt, Adina, FindHusly, Inews, Posty and kbDoc. Tailwind CSS: Parody, Frame & Light and the static Trendexa, both covered in our Tailwind CSS templates guide. SCSS: Landpagy, Vibnt and Adina. TypeScript: Landpagy, Parody, both Trendexa versions and Zestora.
- An HTML twin. Landpagy, Parody, Adina, FindHusly, Trendexa, Inews, kbDoc and Bookjar are also sold as HTML templates under the same name, and Techguru as PHP. If no one on your team writes React, the twin is simpler to run; see our HTML5 templates hub.
Regular vs Extended License
The Regular License covers one end product whose end users aren't charged. If end users pay to use what you build, you need the Extended License. Every purchase includes 6 months of seller support through Manob's built-in ticket system, which you can extend, and every item is manually reviewed and can be previewed before you buy.
When to look elsewhere
- You want it free. create-next-app starts a free project from the default template or an official Next.js example (
--example), with working code and little design. - You want a bigger choice. As of October 2026, ThemeForest's bigger range of Next.js templates is worth a look; check versions and routers the same way.
- You want a client-rendered React app. Our React templates roundup covers Vite single-page apps.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Next.js template?
A Next.js template is a ready-made React project built on the Next.js framework, with designed pages, components and routing. You add your content and deploy it as a static site or on a Node.js host.
Do I need Vercel to host a Next.js template?
No. A static export runs on any web server, including shared hosting, and the Next.js docs say a Node.js server or Docker container supports every feature. Full-stack templates also need a database server.
Is there a Next.js ecommerce template with a backend?
Yes. NexaByte pairs a Next.js 15 storefront with an Express.js API, Prisma, MySQL and an admin panel. Bookjar is a bookstore design with shop layouts, a user dashboard, a wishlist and order tracking.
Which Next.js template suits a portfolio or blog?
Frame & Light keeps portfolio items and blog posts in markdown and has blog category and tag pages. Posty adds a dark mode for magazines and personal blogs, and Parody suits an agency or freelancer portfolio.
What is the difference between a Next.js starter and a template?
A starter, such as the default create-next-app project, is a minimal setup with a page or two. A template adds a finished design and ready-made pages, so your time goes into content.
Can I upgrade a template to the latest Next.js version?
Usually, yes. In the project folder, run npx @next/codemod upgrade latest to update Next.js, React and React DOM and apply the codemods, then fix build errors and test every page.
