12 Portfolio Website Templates for Developers, Designers and Freelancers
By Manob Editorial ·

A good portfolio template makes your best three projects easy to find, loads fast on a phone, and lets you add new work without fighting the layout. We compared 12 picks across HTML, WordPress, React and Figma, grouped by who they suit. For most people, a one-page HTML template such as Welfare or Naven is enough.
Pick your format first
The format matters more than the design, because it decides how you'll update the site in a year.
- HTML templates are the cheapest to host and the hardest to break. You edit files directly, so they suit developers and anyone who updates their portfolio a few times a year.
- WordPress themes give you a dashboard for adding projects and blog posts without touching code. They need PHP hosting and regular updates.
- React and Next.js templates make sense for developers, since the code itself shows what you can do, as long as you're clear about which parts you wrote.
- Figma templates are designs only. They help if you want to design your site first, but someone still has to build it.
Web developer portfolio templates
Recruiters and clients skim. A developer portfolio needs a short intro, three to six projects with links to live work or code, a skills list and a contact link. Fancy animation matters less than a fast, clean page.

How to choose a portfolio template
- Count your projects. With three to six projects, a one-page template is cleaner. With ten or more, or with detailed case studies, choose a multi-page template or WordPress.
- Look for a case-study page. Open a single project in the demo. It needs room for the problem, your role, the process and the result, not just a big image.
- Filtering if you do several kinds of work. If you design logos and websites, or shoot weddings and products, a filterable gallery (Lumiere, Foxden, DreamHub CV) helps visitors find what they came for.
- Image weight. Portfolios are image-heavy. Compress your images and test the demo on your phone with PageSpeed Insights.
- A contact form that works. HTML contact forms usually need PHP on your host or a form service. Check how the template's form sends email before you rely on it.
- Be honest about the code. If you use a template for a developer portfolio, say what you built yourself. Reviewers read source code too.
Licensing: Regular or Extended
A Regular License covers a single end product whose end users aren't charged, which is what a personal portfolio is. If you build portfolio sites for clients, each one needs its own license. The Extended License is for an end product whose end users are charged. Neither license lets you redistribute the source as-is. Every purchase includes 6 months of seller support through Manob's built-in ticket system, and you can extend it at 30% before it expires or renew at 75% after.
When to look elsewhere
- You want it free. Manob's templates are paid, priced by sellers from $9 to $93 across the catalog. The WordPress.org theme directory has free portfolio themes, and Figma Community has free design kits.
- You only need a gallery. If you never plan to write about your work, a profile on a portfolio platform may be all you need.
- You need a personal Figma portfolio kit. Manob doesn't currently have one with a working preview, so Figma Community is the better place to look.
- You run an agency. A studio with a team and services may need more pages. See our WordPress agency themes.

Frequently asked questions
What should a portfolio website include?
A one-line intro, your best three to six projects with short case studies, a list of skills or services, and an easy way to contact you. Add a résumé link if you're job hunting.
Are there free portfolio website templates?
Yes. The WordPress.org theme directory has free portfolio themes, and Figma Community has free design kits. The templates in this roundup are paid and include 6 months of seller support.
What's the best template for a web developer portfolio?
For a quick site, a one-page HTML template like Welfare is enough. If you want the code to show React skills, adapt a React template such as Edifice, and say which parts you wrote.
Do I need WordPress for a portfolio?
No. If you update your portfolio a few times a year, an HTML template is cheaper and simpler. Choose WordPress if you'll add projects or blog posts often and don't want to edit code.
Can I use a Figma template for my portfolio?
Yes, as a design. A Figma file isn't a website, so you'll still need to build it in HTML, WordPress or React, or have a developer build it.
What's the difference between a portfolio and a résumé site?
A portfolio shows your work; a résumé site summarizes your experience. Templates like Naven and DreamHub CV combine both.
