How to Sell the Same Theme on Multiple Marketplaces
By Manob Editorial ·

You can sell the same theme on ThemeForest, TemplateMonster, manob.ai and your own store at once, because all of them are non-exclusive in 2026. The work is in keeping them in step: one source for every release, a neutral demo, a clear rule for prices, and one support desk that works for buyers from every marketplace.
Is it allowed?
As of October 2026, yes, on the marketplaces most theme authors use:
| Marketplace | Exclusivity | What the author keeps |
|---|---|---|
| ThemeForest and CodeCanyon | Non-exclusive (Market Author Terms) | 50% of the item price |
| TemplateMonster | Non-exclusive since January 1, 2026 | 20% of the price from July 1, 2026 |
| UI8 | Not required | 70% per sale, plus unique-download income |
| manob.ai (ours) | Non-exclusive | 65% of the price |
| Your own store (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy) | Yours | About 90 to 95%, minus a per-sale fee |
Two rules to know before you list: Envato doesn't let your item page link to the same item for sale on another platform, and TemplateMonster keeps your price within its minimum and maximum for the category. Read each marketplace's author terms too, because they change. Envato's flat 50% and TemplateMonster's 20% both started on July 1, 2026. Our TemplateMonster commission guide covers what changed and what it means per sale.
1. Keep one source for every release
The easiest way to break a multi-marketplace setup is to edit files in three places. Instead:
- Keep the theme in one repository and build every marketplace's ZIP from it.
- Use the same version number and the same changelog everywhere, so a buyer from any marketplace knows which version they have.
- Put marketplace-specific bits (a support link, a license note) in one small file you swap per build, not scattered through the code.
When you release an update, upload it everywhere on the same day. Reviews take different times on each marketplace, so note in the changelog when a version is live where.
2. Use a demo that works for every marketplace
Marketplace reviewers check the demo, and buyers judge the item by it. A demo built for one marketplace often fails on the others:
- Remove "Buy now" buttons and purchase bars that send visitors to one marketplace. manob.ai's review flags them, and every buyer who clicks one leaves for another marketplace.
- Host the demo on your own domain, so every listing can link it directly.
- Keep it online. A demo on an expired domain or a crashed server costs sales, and manob.ai takes items with broken demos off sale until they work again. Our guide to previewing a template before buying shows what buyers check.
3. Decide how your prices compare
Each marketplace adds its own buyer fee or customer fee on top of your price, so the same author price shows up as different checkout prices. Pick a rule and stick to it:
- Same author price everywhere: the simplest rule. Buyers see small differences that come from each marketplace's fees, not from you.
- Lower where you keep more: you can afford a lower price on a marketplace that pays you a bigger share. On manob.ai you keep 65%, so a $24 price pays you $15.60, more than a $29 sale on ThemeForest pays at 50% ($14.50).
- Watch for price rules: Creative Market's pricing consistency rule says your price there can't be higher than the lowest price you charge on any other marketplace. If you list there, plan every price at once.
On Envato and manob.ai, licenses follow the same test: Regular for one end product used for free, Extended for one that end users pay for. See Regular vs Extended License for how manob.ai and Envato draw that line.
4. Run one support desk
Most marketplaces include 6 months of support from the purchase date (ThemeForest's supported items, TemplateMonster and manob.ai all do), but each one proves a purchase differently. To keep support in one place:
- Use one help desk or support email, and ask buyers for their order or purchase code plus which marketplace they bought on.
- Answer from the same knowledge base and documentation, whichever marketplace the buyer came from.
- On manob.ai, buyers open tickets in the built-in support system, so you don't need a separate help desk for them.
5. Copy your listings without retyping them
The first listing on each new marketplace is the slow part: description, screenshots, demo, documentation, prices, category, tags, then the ZIP. For manob.ai, manob Migrator does it for you. It's a free Chrome extension that copies your TemplateMonster, ThemeForest and CodeCanyon items in one go, using the account already signed in in your browser. Step-by-step guides:
It also marks items that are already on manob.ai, so running it again after you publish new items doesn't make duplicates.
6. Watch which marketplace actually sells
Give it a few months, then compare sales per marketplace, not just the share you keep. A 20% share of steady sales can beat 65% of none, and the other way round. Drop a marketplace only when it costs you more time in updates and support than it earns.
When one marketplace is enough
- You have one or two items: the extra update and support work can outweigh the extra sales.
- Your buyers all come from one place: if your traffic is ThemeForest search, other listings may add little at first.
- You sell on Envato Elements: Elements has its own terms and pays by subscriber use, so check them before you list the same items elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sell the same theme on ThemeForest and TemplateMonster?
Yes. As of October 2026, Envato's author terms are non-exclusive and TemplateMonster has had no exclusivity since January 1, 2026, so the same theme can be on both.
Do I have to charge the same price on every marketplace?
Not on Envato or TemplateMonster, as of October 2026. Creative Market is the exception: your price there can't be higher than your lowest price elsewhere. Each marketplace also adds its own buyer fee, so buyers see different totals even when your author price is the same.
Which marketplace pays theme authors the most?
Among theme marketplaces, as of October 2026: UI8 at 70% per sale, manob.ai at 65%, Envato at 50% and TemplateMonster at 20%. Selling direct through Gumroad or Lemon Squeezy keeps more, but you bring every buyer yourself.
Do I need different licenses for each marketplace?
No. Each sale is covered by the license of the marketplace it was bought on. Point buyers to "the license you bought with" in your documentation rather than naming one marketplace.
How do I copy my items to manob.ai?
Use manob Migrator, a free Chrome extension that copies TemplateMonster, ThemeForest and CodeCanyon items with their details and files. Or upload each item by hand with Upload in your seller menu.
