The Best AI Website Builders in 2026, Compared Honestly

For most small businesses, Wix or Squarespace is the best AI website builder: the AI drafts the site, then you edit it in a drag-and-drop editor. Designers get more control from Framer or Webflow. Durable bundles bookings and a CRM for service businesses. If the site needs logins or a database, an AI code builder such as Lovable fits better.

Two kinds of AI website builder

"AI website builder" covers two different tools, and choosing the wrong kind causes most of the regret.

  • Site builders with AI. Wix, Squarespace, Framer, Webflow and Durable generate pages, copy and a design from a description, then hand you a visual editor. The site lives on their hosting, and anyone on your team can change a headline without touching code.
  • AI code builders. Lovable, Bolt.new and manob.ai write real application code from a chat. They handle things a brochure site doesn't need, such as user accounts, dashboards and databases. The trade-off is that later edits usually happen through the AI chat or the code, not a drag-and-drop canvas.

If your site is pages and a contact form, start with the first group. If it's closer to an app, read our Lovable alternatives and Bolt.new alternatives comparisons too.

AI website builders at a glance

Prices come from each company's own pricing page, as of October 2026, and are in US dollars. Several builders price by location, so the amount you see at checkout can differ.

The 8 builders, one by one

Wix: the most rounded for small businesses

Wix's plans page describes its AI builder this way: "Create your site from a single prompt and flow between AI generation and drag and drop to refine any detail." You can start and build on the free plan without a card. Connecting your own domain and removing Wix branding needs a paid Premium plan (Light, Core, Business or Business Elite). Most yearly Premium plans include a voucher for a free domain for the first year, and the first upgrade comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

We haven't quoted Wix's prices because, in Wix's words, "prices and currency vary by location". The plans page shows yours, billed yearly. Wix suits a business that wants a store, bookings or a blog from one dashboard.

Squarespace: the easiest route to a polished design

Squarespace's AI website builder, which the page also calls Blueprint AI, starts with you describing your business "in your own words". It then builds a multi-page starting point with pages, copy, imagery, colors and fonts, which you refine in the drag-and-drop editor or by asking its AI assistant.

There's no free plan. Every site starts with a 14-day trial, and you need a paid plan to publish. As of October 2026, the pricing page lists Basic at $12 a month billed yearly ($19 monthly), Core at $17 ($27 monthly) and Advanced at $25 ($36 monthly). Annual plans include a free domain for the first year. Basic charges a 2% transaction fee on online store sales and allows 2 contributors. Core drops the store fee to 0% and adds custom CSS and JavaScript.

Framer: the most design control

Framer's AI page describes an agent that creates "editable pages, sections, copy, and visuals" you refine in conversation or on the canvas. It can also build CMS collections and review the site before you publish for contrast, typos, missing alt text and SEO gaps. The output is a layout you keep adjusting on the canvas, breakpoint by breakpoint, which is why it suits designers.

On Framer's pricing page, the free plan runs on a Framer domain with 1 GB of bandwidth and 500 AI credits to try, and Framer calls it "ideal for non-commercial use". Basic is $10 a month for 30 pages and 1,000 AI credits a month. Pro is $30 a month for 150 pages and 3,000 credits. A custom domain needs a paid plan, and extra editors cost $20 a month each.

Webflow: the strongest CMS of the group

Webflow says its AI site builder can "generate an entire website with a scalable design system in minutes, all from a basic prompt". Webflow AI can also write copy, generate code components and fill CMS collections. It's the most technical of the site builders here, and the payoff is control over structure and content at scale.

As of October 2026, Webflow's pricing page lists a free Starter plan with a webflow.io address, 2 static pages, 1 GB of bandwidth and 50 form submissions. Basic is $15 a month billed yearly, with a custom domain, 300 static pages and 10 GB of bandwidth. Premium, at $25 a month billed yearly, adds the Webflow CMS.

Durable: the fastest start for a service business

Durable bundles the website with tools a local business uses every day. Its pricing page lists a built-in CRM, unlimited online booking synced to your calendar, and AI agents that write blog posts and research competitors. The free plan builds a private preview with 300 AI credits. Publishing, on a durable.site address or your own domain, starts with Launch, which Durable's FAQ prices at $22 a month billed yearly or $25 billed monthly. Launch includes 1,000 AI credits a month and a free domain registration worth up to $20.

Lovable: when the "site" is really an app

Lovable builds working web apps from a chat, with a PostgreSQL database through Lovable Cloud or Supabase (FAQ). Pick it when visitors need to sign up, log in or see their own data. As of October 2026, the free plan gives 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month. Custom domains, code download and removing the "Edit with Lovable" badge need Pro, at $25 a month or $21 billed yearly (plans).

Bolt.new: when you want to choose the framework

Bolt's help center says it supports any front-end JavaScript framework, with Node.js on the backend. Its free plan is generous for testing: 1 million tokens a month, website hosting and unlimited databases, with Bolt branding on the site. Pro, at $25 a month, adds a custom domain and removes the branding (pricing). Because it writes code, it suits someone comfortable reading what the AI produced.

manob.ai (our own platform): AI building that starts from a template

manob.ai is the site you're reading, so weigh this entry with that in mind. Its AI workspace has an AI chat, an agentic code editor, a cloud sandbox with live preview, and deploy. As of October 13, 2026 (pricing), Starter is free with 1,000 AI Energy a month and 13 starter templates. Builder, at $12 a month, adds 25,000 AI Energy, full-stack builds with an API, database and auth, and a custom domain. Pro ($24) and Business ($49) add more AI Energy, freelancer marketplace access and team capacity.

What's different is the marketplace around it: more than 600 themes and templates you can preview before you buy, and Manob-compatible themes can be edited with the AI. Where the site builders above are stronger: a non-technical colleague can edit a Wix or Squarespace page on a visual canvas, and those builders bundle stores, bookings and email marketing that manob.ai's plan list doesn't include.

How to choose an AI website builder

  1. Decide who edits the site after launch. If it's someone non-technical, pick a site builder with a visual editor. AI code builders assume someone is comfortable with chat prompts or code.
  2. List the features you need. A store, bookings, a blog or memberships points to Wix, Squarespace or Durable. Logins and saved user data point to Lovable, Bolt.new or manob.ai.
  3. Work out the yearly cost, not the monthly one. Many low prices assume yearly billing. Add the domain after its free first year, store transaction fees (2% on Squarespace Basic) and any extra editors (Framer charges $20 a month each).
  4. Check the limits on the plan you'd buy. Webflow Basic allows 300 static pages and Framer Basic 30. That's plenty for a small business and tight for a content site.
  5. Test with your real content. Give each builder the same description of your business and compare the drafts. Most of the work is in the editing afterward, so try changing a page, too.

Whichever you pick, you'll need a domain. Our guides explain the difference between a domain and hosting and how to buy a domain name.

When an AI builder isn't the right tool

  • You want to own the files outright. A coded template on any host can be moved anywhere. Our HTML5 templates and portfolio website templates roundups list designs you can preview first.
  • You already run WordPress. A theme gives you WordPress's plugin ecosystem. Start with our business WordPress themes.
  • The AI draft keeps missing. If prompting isn't getting there, a developer can usually finish faster. Our guide to hiring a WordPress developer covers scoping and contracts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free AI website builder?

For a free site you can publish, Wix, Framer and Webflow all have free plans on their own subdomains, as of October 2026. Squarespace has a 14-day trial instead, and Durable's free plan is a private preview.

Can AI build a whole website for me?

It can build a full first draft: pages, copy, images, colors and fonts from a short description. You'll still need to check the facts, replace stock images and edit the copy so it sounds like your business.

Which AI website builder is best for a small business?

Wix and Squarespace suit most small businesses because they combine AI drafting with a visual editor and built-in tools such as stores and bookings. Durable is a simpler option for service businesses that take appointments.

Do AI website builders include a domain?

Often for the first year only. Squarespace annual plans, most yearly Wix Premium plans, Webflow's paid site plans and Durable's Launch plan include or allow a custom domain. Expect to pay the regular renewal rate after the first year.

What's the difference between an AI website builder and an AI app builder?

An AI website builder produces pages you edit visually and host with the builder. An AI app builder such as Lovable or Bolt.new writes application code, so it can handle logins, databases and dashboards.
