7 Replit Alternatives, Whether You Use the Agent or the Editor

The best Replit alternative depends on which half of Replit you use. If you build with Replit Agent, try Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 or Base44, which all turn prompts into running apps. If you use Replit as a cloud code editor, GitHub Codespaces is the closest match, and Cursor suits coding locally with an AI agent. manob.ai is our own option.

Replit today: the baseline

Here's Replit as of October 2026, from its pricing page and Starter plan docs, checked on October 14:

  • Starter (free): daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, Lite build only and one free published app. That app "will automatically go down after 30 days" and shows a "Made with Replit" badge. External connectors such as Google and Stripe, Plan Mode and full build all need Core.
  • Core: $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. It includes $20 of credit toward more powerful models, Plan mode and unlimited workspaces.
  • Pro: $100 a month, or $90 billed yearly. It adds 10 parallel agents, premium support, up to 15 collaborators, up to 50 invited viewers and database rollback up to 28 days.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing with SSO/SAML, single-tenant environments and static outbound IPs.
  • Languages: Replit "supports all programming languages through integration with Nix" (docs), which matters if your backend isn't JavaScript.

The pricing page also links to pay-as-you-go "Effort-Based Pricing" for use beyond your included credits, and notes that Replit Agent's "behavior is probabilistic", meaning it can make mistakes.

Which kind of Replit user are you?

Replit is two products in one account, and the right replacement depends on which one you rely on.

  • Agent users describe an app and let Replit build, run and publish it. Your alternatives are other AI app builders: Lovable, Bolt.new, v0, Base44 and manob.ai. Lovable, Bolt.new and v0 all build on JavaScript, so check the stack before you move.
  • Editor users write code in the browser, often in Python, and use Replit for the instant environment. Your alternatives are cloud development environments such as GitHub Codespaces, or an AI coding agent like Cursor on your own machine.

Alternatives for Replit Agent users

1. Lovable: a guided stack with Git sync on every plan

Lovable makes the technical choices for you. Its FAQ says new apps use TanStack Start, older ones React and Vite, with PostgreSQL through Lovable Cloud or Supabase, and you can't choose another framework or database. In exchange, every plan, free included, can sync to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, and every workspace allows unlimited members sharing one credit pool. The free plan gives 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month. Pro is $25 a month for 100 credits (plans). Lovable won't run a Python backend, so a Replit project built on one doesn't map across. Our Lovable alternatives post compares it with the rest.

2. Bolt.new: the most generous free hosting

Bolt's free plan covers more than Replit Starter does. As of October 2026 its pricing page lists 1 million tokens a month (300,000 a day), private projects, website hosting and unlimited databases on the free plan, with Bolt branding on the site. Pro is $25 a month for 10 million tokens and a custom domain. The limit for Replit users is language: Bolt's supported technologies page says only JavaScript backends work, not Python or PHP. See Bolt.new alternatives for how it compares on tokens.

3. v0: for Next.js teams already on Vercel

v0's FAQ says it uses Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, and previews run your server-side code, API routes and database connections as production would. The free plan allows 7 messages a day with GitHub sync and deploys to Vercel. Plus costs $30 per user a month, with $30 of credits per user (pricing). It's a narrower tool than Replit and a better one if Next.js is what you'd pick anyway.

4. Base44: the backend is part of every plan

Base44 includes an "integrated backend and database system", authentication and user management on every plan, per its pricing page. That's the piece Replit Starter users often hit first, since connectors such as Stripe need Replit Core. Base44's free plan allows up to 5 apps with 25 message credits a month. Starter is $16 a month billed yearly with 100 message credits and a custom domain, and GitHub integration starts on Builder at $40 a month billed yearly.

5. manob.ai (our own platform): AI building next to a template marketplace

manob.ai is the site you're reading, so weigh this entry accordingly. The workspace has an AI chat, an agentic code editor, a cloud sandbox with live preview, and deploy. Plans as of October 13, 2026 (pricing):

  • Starter, $0: 1,000 AI Energy a month, the chat, code editor and sandbox, 13 starter templates and deploy.
  • Builder, $12 a month: 25,000 AI Energy, full-stack builds with an API, database and auth, a custom domain and marketplace listings.
  • Pro, $24 a month: 80,000 AI Energy, freelancer marketplace access and priority support.
  • Business, $49 a month: 200,000 AI Energy, team and agency capacity and a named contact.

The same account reaches a marketplace of more than 600 themes and templates you can preview before buying, and Manob-compatible themes can be edited with the AI. It also sells freelance services, for when you'd rather hire someone to finish. Where Replit is clearly ahead: it documents support for every language through Nix, offers database rollback and enterprise controls such as SSO, and pairs its agent with a full code editor. manob.ai's plan list doesn't name languages or frameworks, so confirm yours is supported first.

Alternatives for Replit editor users

6. GitHub Codespaces: the closest cloud editor

GitHub calls a codespace "a development environment that's hosted in the cloud" (docs). Each one runs in a Docker container on a virtual machine, from 2 cores, 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage up to 32 cores. The default Ubuntu image "includes a selection of popular languages and tools", and a dev container configuration in your repository can set up anything else. You connect from the browser, Visual Studio Code or GitHub CLI.

As of October 2026, GitHub Free accounts include 120 hours of compute and 15 GB-month of storage each month, and GitHub Pro includes 180 hours and 20 GB-month. A 2-core machine counts double against those hours. Beyond that, 2-core compute costs $0.18 an hour and storage $0.07 per GB-month (billing docs). That price covers compute and storage only. An AI assistant and hosting for the finished app are separate decisions.

7. Cursor: an AI agent on your own machine

If what you liked was Replit Agent working inside real code, Cursor does that on your laptop. It describes itself as "your coding agent for building ambitious software", with a desktop app and a command-line tool. Its pricing page lists a free plan with limited agent requests, Plus at $8 a month (limited to Grok models), and Premium at $30 a month with four times Plus's usage and third-party models billed separately at API list price. Its pricing page doesn't list app hosting, so plan where the finished app will run. If you're building for clients, our guide on becoming a freelance web developer covers pricing and finding the work.

When to stay on Replit

  • You need a language other than JavaScript. Lovable, Bolt.new and v0 all build on JavaScript. Replit runs Python and anything else Nix can install.
  • You want agent, editor and hosting in one bill. Moving to Codespaces or Cursor means adding a separate host, and moving to an AI builder means giving up the full editor.
  • You need team controls. Pro lists 15 collaborators and 28-day database rollback, and Enterprise adds SSO and single-tenant environments. Check that a replacement offers the same before you move a team.
  • You build web and mobile. Replit's Starter plan already covers web and mobile apps; only other project types need Core.

If you're moving because the free published app expires after 30 days, the fix may be cheaper than switching: compare Core's price with the cost of separate hosting. Our guides to domains versus hosting and VPS versus shared hosting explain what that hosting involves.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Replit?

For building apps with AI, Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 and Base44 are the closest. For coding in a cloud editor, GitHub Codespaces. For coding locally with an AI agent, Cursor.

Is Replit still free?

Yes, on the Starter plan, with limits. As of October 2026 it allows Lite build only and one free published app, which goes offline after 30 days and shows a "Made with Replit" badge.

What is a good Replit alternative for Python?

GitHub Codespaces, which gives you a full Linux environment you can configure for Python, with 120 hours of compute a month on GitHub Free. Bolt.new and Lovable don't run Python backends.

Is Lovable better than Replit?

For React web apps with a built-in database and Git sync on every plan, Lovable is simpler. For other languages, a full code editor or database rollback, Replit does more.

How much does Replit Core cost?

As of October 2026, Core costs $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, and includes $20 of credit toward more powerful models. Pro costs $100 a month, or $90 billed yearly.
