Political WordPress Themes for Campaigns, Parties and Causes
By Manob Editorial ·

A good political WordPress theme gives you issue pages, an events list, a volunteer form and a donate button that connects to a real payment plugin, and it stays fast on a phone. We compared 11 templates on Manob, 5 WordPress and 6 HTML. Lidership is the most complete campaign build; Desal suits a single candidate best.
The 11 picks at a glance
We read every listing and opened every live demo on October 13, 2026. When we say a demo "runs" a plugin, we found that plugin in the demo's page source. That tells you what the seller built the demo with. It doesn't mean any paid version of that plugin comes with the theme.

HTML templates for campaign sites
An HTML template is a set of static pages. It's cheap to host and quick to load, but nothing on it works by itself: the donate and volunteer forms need a payment processor or form service behind them, and you edit code to post news. If that suits your team, these six are the relevant ones. Our guide to editing a Bootstrap template covers the basics, and the HTML5 templates roundup covers other industries.
Desal HTML: the static version of Desal

How to choose a political WordPress theme
None of these themes is a campaign platform. They give you layouts. Each check below is something you confirm yourself, in the demo or with the seller, before you buy.
Donations
Click the demo's donate button and see where it goes. In the WordPress demos above, donations run through GiveWP, which is free on WordPress.org with PayPal and Stripe in the free version; recurring donations are a paid add-on, according to its plugin page as of October 2026. If your party or an existing platform already handles contributions, a button that links out is enough. Election law can require extra contributor fields (US federal committees, for example, collect occupation and employer details from some donors), so confirm your form can add them.
Volunteer sign-up
Most of these demos use Contact Form 7, which emails each submission to you. That works for a small race. For a bigger one, check that entries can reach your CRM or a spreadsheet, and add a consent checkbox for texts and email.
Events
The demos show event lists and single event pages, not ticketing or RSVPs. If you need RSVPs, recurring events or a calendar feed, add an events plugin and check that it looks right with the theme.
Issues pages
Voters read one issue at a time. Look for a page you can duplicate per issue: Desal's Manifesto page, Lidership's policy tabs, Polytia's promise cards. Give each issue its own URL rather than hiding it in a tab, so you can link to it from ads and email.
News and press
All five WordPress themes include blog layouts. Open a single post on your phone; press releases are long, and some layouts squeeze the text column.
Accessibility
None of the 11 listings claim WCAG conformance, so test it yourself. Tab through the demo with a keyboard, check text contrast over hero photos and confirm every form field has a label. The W3C's WCAG overview explains the standard.
Speed on mobile
Run each demo through PageSpeed Insights on mobile. The Lidership, Desal, Shanti and EcoGreen demos all load Revolution Slider. If you don't use a slider, deactivate it.
The "Paid for by" footer
The FEC says disclaimers must appear on political committees' websites, and the wording depends on who paid and whether a candidate authorized it. State and local rules differ. Check that the footer text is editable on every page template, and get the exact wording from your treasurer or counsel.
Languages
Lidership, Desal, Shanti and EcoGreen list WPML compatibility. If your district needs two languages, start with one of those.
Licensing: Regular or Extended
Every Manob item has a Regular License and an Extended License price. The Regular License covers a single end product whose end users aren't charged; the Extended License covers an end product whose end users are charged. A campaign site that visitors use for free fits the Regular description. Neither license lets you redistribute the source as-is, and each candidate's or organization's site is its own end product, so a consultant building sites for three candidates needs three licenses. Every purchase includes 6 months of seller support through Manob's built-in ticket system, extendable at 30% before it expires or 75% after. Full terms are on the licenses page.
When to look elsewhere
- You need it free. Manob's items are paid ($9 to $93 across the catalog). The WordPress.org theme directory has free themes, and a clean free theme plus the free version of GiveWP covers a local race.
- You want more designs. A search for "political" in ThemeForest's WordPress category returned 157 results on October 13, 2026. Manob has three themes built for politics.
- Your party gives you a hosted site. If it already connects donations, volunteer lists and voter data, use it. A theme won't replace a voter file.
- You don't want to build it. Read how to hire a WordPress developer. If you'll do it yourself, start with installing a theme manually and customizing it.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best free WordPress theme for a political campaign?
Manob doesn't sell free themes; prices run from $9 to $93 across the catalog. For a free option, pick a fast theme from the WordPress.org directory and add the free GiveWP plugin for donations.
Do political WordPress themes take donations on their own?
No. The theme supplies the donate pages. A plugin such as GiveWP and a payment gateway such as Stripe or PayPal move the money.
Does a campaign website need a "Paid for by" disclaimer?
In US federal races, yes: the FEC says disclaimers must appear on political committees' websites. State and local rules vary, so confirm the wording with your treasurer or counsel.
Should I use WordPress or an HTML template for a campaign site?
Use WordPress if staff or volunteers will post news and events without a developer. Use HTML if the site is small, rarely changes and someone on the team is comfortable editing code.
Can I use one license for several candidates?
No. A Regular License covers a single end product, so each candidate's or organization's site needs its own license.
Are these political themes WCAG accessible?
None of the listings claim WCAG conformance. Test the demo with a keyboard and a contrast checker, and fix what you find before launch.
