7 Creative Market Alternatives for Buying and Selling Design Assets

For buyers, the closest Creative Market alternatives are Envato Elements, if you'd rather pay one subscription, and Creative Fabrica for fonts and crafts. Adobe Stock and Magnific (formerly Freepik) suit stock graphics. For sellers, Etsy and Gumroad usually leave you more per sale than Creative Market's default 50% split. For website templates and UI kits, there's Manob (ours).

Creative Market today: the baseline

Creative Market's footer now describes it as "a Dribbble company," and Design Cuts' website redirects to creativemarket.com, so two familiar names are now one marketplace. From Creative Market's own help pages, as of October 2026:

  • Pricing: shop owners price each product, with a separate price for each license (licensing overview). Every order adds one flat platform fee, however many items are in the cart.
  • Licenses: Personal for non-commercial use, Commercial for up to 5,000 end products for sale, and Extended Commercial for up to 250,000 plus one app, web app or game (licenses). WordPress themes come with the GPL instead (themes license).
  • Membership: monthly credits that roll over while you stay subscribed. You keep the licenses for anything you redeemed after you cancel (membership FAQ).
  • Refunds: only for duplicate purchases, technical issues the shop can't fix, or misrepresented products, within a 3-day window (refund policy).
  • For sellers: a person reviews each shop request. Shops earn 50% of list price by default, though "commission rates do vary per shop/product" (shop sales). Balances left unused for 18 months are charged a $3.99 monthly inactivity fee.

Two license rules catch people out. You can't customize a template and sell the result as a template, and you can't convert a website template into a theme and sell it (template use cases). Both count as redistribution.

The 7 alternatives, one by one

1. Envato Elements: best if you'd rather pay one subscription

Elements trades Creative Market's per-item prices for unlimited downloads from 29+ million assets, from $16.50 a month (pricing). Fonts, graphics, graphics templates, presentation templates and design add-ons are all included. If you buy several assets a month, compare that with what you spend on Creative Market now.

The license is narrower in two ways. Each download covers one project, and that project has to be finished while you're subscribed (Elements License). Fonts and add-ons can only be used by the subscriber, on up to two computers per seat, and only while the subscription is active for new work. For sellers, Elements isn't accepting new author sign-ups as of October 2026 (Envato author help). Our Envato alternatives guide compares it with the other subscriptions.

2. Creative Fabrica: best for fonts, crafts and print-on-demand designs

Creative Fabrica is the closest match to Creative Market's catalog, with a heavier lean toward crafts and print on demand. Buyers can purchase single items or download from the marketplace with an All Access subscription (subscriptions). Its subscription page blocked our price check. After you cancel, you can keep selling products you designed while subscribed, but you can't make new designs to sell with subscription fonts and graphics. Crafts and stock photos come with a lifetime commercial license (cancellation rules).

For sellers, its seller page lists a 50% default commission, 75% on sales you refer through your affiliate link, earnings from both subscription downloads and single sales, and "No Exclusivity Lock-in." Opening a shop is free.

3. Etsy: best for sellers who want marketplace traffic and a bigger share

Etsy keeps less per sale than Creative Market's default split. Its fee page lists $0.20 per listing (renewed every 4 months), a 6.5% transaction fee and, in the US, payment processing of 3% plus $0.25. There's also a one-time set-up fee that varies by location. On a $20 sale you keep about $17.65, against $10 at a 50% split.

Two limits matter for design files. Digital items "must be made and/or designed by you," and each listing takes up to five files of 20MB each (digital listings). Large font families or layered PSD packs may not fit.

4. Adobe Stock: best for templates and images with a perpetual license

Adobe Stock is a stock library rather than a shop marketplace. Its plans page lists $29.99 a month for up to 10 standard assets, with templates counted alongside images, vectors and music, plus credit packs from 5 to 150 credits that last a year. Its license is "perpetual, worldwide." The Standard License allows up to 500,000 copies, and an Extended License is required when the asset itself is what you're selling, as on a mug or T-shirt.

5. Magnific (formerly Freepik): best for vectors, PSDs and mockups

Freepik now redirects to Magnific, whose pricing page lists Premium from €10.50 a month billed annually, before VAT. Plans include "250M+ photos, videos, vectors & PSDs," plus mockups, fonts, icons and templates, and AI credits. The terms require free users to credit the site, and selling physical merchandise is limited to the Pro plan, capped at 100,000 units per asset. If you mostly bought mockups and illustrations on Creative Market, a subscription here may cover them.

6. Gumroad or Payhip: best for designers with their own audience

If people already follow your work, selling direct keeps the most. Gumroad takes 10% plus $0.50 on direct sales, has no monthly fee and handles sales tax as merchant of record. Payhip's free plan takes 5%, plus PayPal or Stripe fees, and collects EU and UK VAT for you. You'll also need to state your own license terms on each product page. Our Gumroad alternatives guide compares more checkout options.

7. Manob (our own marketplace): best for website templates and UI kits

Manob is our own marketplace, so read this entry with that in mind. It overlaps with only part of Creative Market. There are no fonts, mockups or illustrations. It sells website design files and code: 24 Figma, PSD or XD design files, 325 HTML templates, 260 WordPress themes and 18 React or Next.js templates, with Regular License prices from $9 to $93.

  • Every item can be previewed before you buy and is manually reviewed before approval.
  • Licensing works per end product: a Regular License when your end users aren't charged, an Extended License when they are. Every product lists both prices.
  • Products include 6 months of seller support through a built-in ticket system.

For sellers, Manob takes 35% commission on products, so you keep 65%, against Creative Market's default 50%. Licensing is non-exclusive, so a UI kit can stay listed on Creative Market too. Buyers of Figma kits will find our Figma UI kits roundup useful, and sellers can start at becoming a seller.

Which pays designers the most?

On a $20 sale, before taxes and any card processing a platform charges separately, as of October 2026:

  • Payhip, free plan: $19.00, plus PayPal or Stripe fees
  • Etsy: $17.65, after listing, transaction and US processing fees
  • Gumroad, direct sale: $17.50
  • Creative Fabrica: $15.00 on a sale you refer, $10.00 otherwise
  • Manob (ours): $13.00
  • Creative Market: $10.00 at the default split

The per-sale number isn't the whole story. Creative Market provides the licenses, handles checkout and brings buyers looking for this kind of asset. Etsy's and Gumroad's higher share comes with more work: you find more of the buyers, and on Gumroad you state the license terms yourself. Many designers list on one or two marketplaces and sell direct to their own followers.

When to stay on Creative Market

  • You want clear, ready-made licenses. The Personal, Commercial and Extended Commercial tiers come with written caps (5,000 and 250,000 end products), so you rarely need to write terms yourself.
  • You buy occasionally. Per-item prices beat a subscription if you need a few assets a year, and licenses don't depend on staying subscribed.
  • You like credits that roll over. Membership credits carry over from month to month for as long as you stay a member.
  • You sell fonts and graphics, not code. Creative Market's categories and licenses are built around design assets.
